Snap-tite, Inc. is a manufacturer of quick-disconnect couplings, hydraulic valves, lay-flat fire hose, high-pressure valves, vessels, reactors, and fittings. Snap-tite’s corporate office is located in Erie, PA and the company has been a client of the Gannon University SBDC International Business Assistance Program since 1995.

Steve Adiska, corporate traffic manager for Snap-tite, Inc., has been working with the Gannon SBDC International Business Consultant in editing and revising the company’s internal export compliance manual. The client had a draft of an export compliance manual in place, but had not been updated since 1997. Steve Adiska was well aware of the numerous export laws, regulations, standards and policies that have significantly changed over the past decade and came to the Gannon SBDC for assisting in revising Snap-tite’s Inc. export compliance manual. Over the course of several counseling and training sessions with the Gannon SBDC International Business Assistance Program, the client created a finish product of an up-to-date export compliance manual and internal export management system congruent with the current United States Export Administration Regulations and International Traffic in Arms Regulations.

In addition to assisting the client in the development of an updated export management system which has been implemented as a corporate wide policy throughout Snap-tite’s seven domestic manufacturing and shipping/receiving locations, the Gannon University SBDC Business Assistance Program has also assisted the client over the past six months with export sales into new markets including Malaysia, Saudia Arabia and Japan. Over the past six months, Steve Adiska has frequently engaged in counseling sessions with the Gannon SBDC pertaining to export compliance questions, international terms of sale preparation and export procedures/documentation assistance. The client is also a fixture in the audience of several Gannon SBDC and U.S. Commercial Service co-sponsored educational training programs.

As a result of the assistance provided by the Gannon University SBDC International Business Assistance Program, Snap-tite, Inc. has increased its export sales substantially over the past year. As the landscape of international business rapidly changes, Steve Adiska and his colleagues at Snap-tite feel as though they are well prepared for future opportunities and challenges that await them in the global marketplace thanks to their newly established export management system. Snap-tite, Inc. will continue to work closely with the Gannon University SBDC into the 2007-2008 fiscal year.
