LaTonya M Jaiman, President of LaFamilia Business Support Services, LLC (an African American Woman/Military Veteran owned business), realized her dream of transferring her military training, education and experience into her own business. Dedication, innovation and resilience are cornerstones of her business and personal approach to obstacles.
Gannon University SBDC Consultants assisted Mrs. Jaiman and her husband start a new business, from it’s inception through grand opening and beyond. The owner was not a native to the region but had conducted research on the area and the prospects for business in Erie. She and her husband did a nationwide search via the internet and made subsequent visits to prospective locations. She took a contract position at General Electric Co. in logistics, while evaluating her business options. Erie PA was selected and the family contacted the (Erie) Northwestern PA Chamber of Commerce to seek assistance and advice about starting a transportation and/or real estate business.
The prospective business owner contacted the GU SBDC, after completing an analysis of business ideas and opportunities it was determined that the client’s experience, skill set and interest were best served by starting a business support service and consulting company. LaFamilia Business Support Services, LLC was established and within weeks the client has been contacted with contract for service offers from private companies and government entities.
Mrs. Jaiman attended several events and seminars conducted by the GU SBDC and affiliated entities. As a result, she has developed substantial business relationships and gained valuable insight. The company is one of a select few disabled American military veteran companies that offer services in her category.
La Tonya’s personal mission to help others develop and operate successful business is now being realized simultaneously as she turns her dream of business ownership into reality. Missionaccomplished. |
